8 Questions to Ask About Your Medications

About half of us don't take our medications as directed, and it's often because we're confused about what to do. That's why it's a good idea to ask your doctor or pharmacist these eight questions:
- What is the medication's name and dosage?
- Why am I taking this medication?
- Will this medication interact with other medications or over-the-counter drugs that I’m taking?
- Is there a generic equivalent or over-the-counter alternative available?
- Should I take this on an empty stomach or with food?
- What foods or drinks should I avoid while taking this medication?
- How much should I take, when should I take it, and for how long?
- Are there problems/side effects that I should watch for?
